Best Book Editors Review

This anthology is like a sweetshop Pick &Mix counter and offers an impressive range of stories. Some of them have a satisfying twist and others carry a lot of emotional depth, but they all leave you with something to think about. From moments of poignant reflection to bursts of wit, they have crafted narratives perfect for escaping into a book for five minutes without investing in an entire novel. Spot on, for work commuters to read on trains and buses, or to keep beside the bed for a quick dib-in read. The variety gives us something to suit every reader, from light-hearted fun to thought-provoking life situations.

My favourite story in the collection was He Who Laughs Last. I connected with the characters and found their dynamics compelling enough to carry an entire novel. With a talent for creating vivid and relatable characters that linger after the story ends, this book has a mix of wit and tension, making it stand out as an engaging anthology.

I absolutely loved these stories. My two favourites were Through My eyes and With This Ring. The first I mentioned was such an emotive story and exceptionally unique. It is from the viewpoint of a painting, and it blew me away. It’s a beautiful written story. The Ring story was such a deeply moving story that flits between past and present of two people who don’t get to see their life through together. But the husband, before being sent to war in the 1300s, makes a promise that if he does not return, then they will meet again in another lifetime… I loved this one, too. The author writes evocative and beautiful unique stories. Highly recommend.

This is an excellent book of short stories that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The author showcases her skill in varied scenarios that leave the reader with a satisfied nod, knowing that they made a wise purchase in buying this book. I enjoyed all of them but my favourites are ‘Getting Happy’ and ‘Upside Down World.’
Definitely five stars.

This is a brilliant collection of short stories each of them entertaining and intriguing. And there is something for everyone. Take Through My Eyes itself, a heart wrenching story told from the point of view of a painting or With This Ring where a woman is transported to the 14th century and finds that love survives all. Including reincarnation. Or take Perfect Birthday Gift about twin brothers who permanently try to one up each other with prank birthday gifts. You won’t be disappointed.
