This series takes readers back to Africa, when wild animals ran free, and kings and queens ruled their land territorial.
Disputes were solved through bloodshed. It was a kill-or-be-killed lifestyle, eat or be eaten when warriors went out to hunt in the land of lions, leopards, hyenas and cheetahs.
Sunita the greatest warrior survived each day protecting his family and kingdom until he became their enemy.
Tribal War
I enjoyed this book. And I liked that these tribes lived primitively and hunted lions for their pelts to satisfy a greedy chieftain’s fashion needs, but people are the same the world over. You can take them into a different period, setting, and culture—but they will always have the same base emotions and traits.
This book is a powerful exploration of conflict, identity, coming-of-age and resilience. It’s deeply set in old African traditions and politics. The personal aspects of the story and the culture blend well, and the dynamics within the tribes mean that survival is always paramount. The tensions sparking their clashes can seem trivial but could cause a war. The fact that our hero chooses to love one wife in a polygamous tribe shows him as weak and lacking in masculinity. It makes others in the tribe feel they can challenge him for his position in the hierarchy. And when he refuses to marry the chieftain’s daughter, he puts himself at risk of being killed.
Through well-crafted characters and vivid imagery, the book brings the struggles and complexities of tribal communities to the fore, making the narrative engaging. The research and attention to cultural detail add to the story, so the reader understands the values that shape the characters’ lives.
Characters are caught between tradition and change, showing how they navigate loyalty and survival. The harsh realities of tribal warfare are balanced with moments of compassion and daily living. It gives the book an emotional depth that remains after turning the page. This is an engrossing story and a thought-provoking look at the class that divides and unites communities, making it a great read for anyone interested in the human side of conflict.
A great read, a human story, and very a engaging story to escape into.
