Where Is All The Grass Going? by D E Fox

Book Blurb

A mysterious event has gripped the world!
How, why, who and what — is taking the grass?

Globe leaders are baffled; unbeknownst to them there’s a secret agency who
solve weird, bizarre events and it’s run by dogs!

Jake and Sammy are everyday pets until a strange encounter changes their lives forever; this puzzling case will test their bosses, Gino and Phillip, to the limits.

Can they pull together and save humanity before it’s too late? Will Jake ever get that packet of crisps he so desperately craves for? And will the age-old question be answered—are four legs better than two?

In this crime mystery where dogs rule, anything can go wrong and probably will. But we all love an underdog!

Best Book Editors Review

This is an imaginative mystery that will charm readers of all ages. The story follows Jake and Sammy who need to solve the puzzle regarding the disappearance of the world’s grass. What sets this book apart is its fresh and clever use of images, often presented as articles or posters, giving the narrative a unique and quirky feel. These visual elements add to the playfulness of the story, making it a pleasure to read. I particularly liked the scenes in the dog’s home and the Zoo.

The characters are irresistibly cute, especially Jake with his obsession, and the camaraderie between the dogs is brilliant. The book’s humour and suspense keep the reader engaged, and the charming style is perfect for everybody. A must for people who love a good underdog story. The clever format and engaging dialogue give an adorable take on the classic crime mystery genre. Is it a children’s book? Is it a cosy mystery? I think it can sit comfortably in both camps.  My favourite line … “Hamish said, standing up and turning back into a guide dog.” Brilliant.

Thoroughly entertaining read. Such an original and quirky story. I was trying to work out where the, grass, was going as I moved through the chapters. I won’t give it away you’ll need to find out for yourselves.
Had fun guessing the songs from the lyrics too.

This is not a genre I would normally pick up but I did read this authors first book and was intrigued to see how she transitioned from horror to a children’s fun mystery!
There is one connection that pleased me that being one of my favourite characters Jake gets another run out in some what of a different role.
How does one solve one of the great mysteries of our time? Well not with mere humans that’s for sure, there not up to the task. So it is left to Jake and his best buddy Sammy along with the Secret Agency to find the answers. This adventure is all about teamwork and how our friends connect with many other characters along their way building unlikely friendships and unite with one single goal in mind. This is such a fun story with humour that will not go wasted at any age level. We have pictures, diagrams, posters, letters and even the occasional connection with the author herself. I try and shoe horn this into a specific age group or a genre and I simply cannot and it would be a shame for any reader at any level to miss out on this treasure. So I would say if you like reading books and you are human age 5+ then just give this a go. Whether you have had a bad day at the office or school, laid up in an hospital bed or even trapped down a well I dare you not to feel better after a few hours of this. (I cannot guarantee though this will help any well trapped folk out of the well unless of course Jake and Sammy are on the case)!
This heart-warming tale will have you in tears of laughter but be warned there may be the odd tear of sadness.
Well done author I look forward to your next effort with whatever genre takes your fancy next time (just no erotic poetry please)
Easiest 5 stars I have ever had the pleasure of submitting

Deborah Fox lives in Yorkshire with her partner Paul. She currently works for a large electrical distributor, as well as being a budding author.

Like many children, Deborah spent her time inspired by stories from AA

Milne to JM Barrie, and to this day her favourite story was and still is,

Winnie the Pooh! Her writing talents didn’t materialise until later in life

as most of her childhood was spent dancing and performing.

Deborah’s passions are the outdoors, gardening, interior design, dogs

and cinema. She has always been intrigued with all things supernatural

and the time presented to her during COVID, and the inspiration from

the sad passing of her dog Jake, was the start of her first novel ‘Second

Hand Rose.’

With the support of family and friends and Blossom Spring agreeing to

publish her story, it has fulfilled the dream to become a published

author and has given the encouragement to write more stories.
