Wrathburn by Hayley Bernard-Ryan

Book Blurb

Eric Wrathburn is just as troubled as he is gifted. Due to his special abilities, he has been chosen to rescue the citizens of Hiraeth, a magical city that very few people know about, while battling his own personal demons.

Serena Catskill is a travel writer visiting London for the first time. After her initial encounter with the enigmatic and tortured Eric Wrathburn, she is thrust into his twisted but often beautiful world where nothing is quite what it seems.

Together they embark on a strange journey into the unknown, but they are not alone. Eric has a nefarious voice in the back of his head. It has been there since birth. He sees it in the mirror. It visits him in the dark. Over the years, he has managed to keep it at bay, but not anymore.

Sometimes when you cage the beast, the beast gets angry…

Dark Fantasy/Romance

Best Book Editors Review

I believe this is the second novel for this author, and it’s fabulous. The writing is accomplished and well-edited.

Wrathburn is a cracking story of dark fantasy and romance and pulls readers into a crazy world of magic and danger. Eric Wrathburn is so well-written that you buy into him instantly. He’s a complex protagonist, with issues. The storyline is intense with Eric’s psychological problems adding to the fantastic elements around him. His internal battles are as gripping as the external conflicts, making you root for him despite his dark nature.

The other main character, Serena adds an emotional layer to the story. The chemistry between them is tender and intense, with their relationship evolving amid the chaos of Eric’s world.

Eric’s darkness gives the novel an eerie, psychological twist, mixing thriller elements with fantasy and heightening the tension as he battles himself. Wrathburn is a fast-paced and beautifully written story of turmoil, magic, and love. Recommended.
